FEATURED
butcher box
Access to healthy food is difficult for many. Access to properly-raised meat is even harder. It's also more expensive. That's why I appreciate Butcher Box, which sends delicious and healthy 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised, hormone and antibiotic-free beef, pork, and chicken to your doorstep. It is very reasonably priced, and likely less expensive than your local market.

LAKANTO SWEETENER
While I generally advocate extricating oneself from the dopaminergic treadmill of sweet food addiction, the occasional treat is fine, and Lakanto is among the safest (according to current evidence) currently available non-caloric, sugar-free sweeteners.
Laktanto is a blend of monk fruit and erythritol. Monk fruit (luo han guo) has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine. It has no effect on blood sugar or insulin, and has even demonstrated antioxidant properties in vitro and in vivo. Erythritol is a sugar alcohol, produced via fermentation and found naturally in some fruits. It has a caloric value of 0.2 calories per gram (compared to 4 for sugar), has zero effect on blood sugar or insulin, and—importantly—does not have the laxative effect that other sugar alcohols have. It too may have antioxidant effects.
I enjoy Lakanto chocolate bars, Matcha Latte, Drinking Chocolate, and sweeteners for occasional sugar-free, keto-friendly baking.
SWANNIES "BLUE BLOCKERS"
Blue light-blocking "night glasses" like Swannies (left) don't just make a statement—research has validated that amber-colored glasses worn before bed can improve sleep and even enhance mood. They do this by preventing blue light-induced melatonin suppression—by up to 50%, according to one study published in the Journal of Pineal Research. I own a pair of Swannies and have noticed that they do remove many wavelengths of blue light while maintaining visual "brightness" so that you can still do things like read.
ZIVAONLINE ONLINE MEDITATION TRAINING
I'm a strong advocate of developing a meditation practice. Meditation has been shown to reduce stress, enhance resilience to stress, increase gray matter volume in the brain, and even lengthen telomeres, which are a known biomarker of aging (longer = better). I have been trained by Emily Fletcher, who teaches a style of Vedic meditation. Her online course has drawn rave reviews, and may be just the "gateway drug" you need to finally shake the stigma and embrace this eons-old practice.
FOUR SIGMATIC MUSHROOm ELIXIRS AND COFFEES
Four Sigmatic makes products incorporating mushrooms. No, not those kinds of mushrooms. Or those kinds of mushrooms. Four Sigmatic places emphasis on the virtues of medicinal mushrooms, like Reishi, Chaga, Maitake, and others which have been used in Chinese medicine for centuries. Their products claim to boost focus and reduce stress. Some of their products, like the instant coffee mixture to the left, feature Lion's Mane mushroom, which has actually been shown in a small placebo-controlled trial to improve symptoms of mild cognitive impairment.
