What you'll learn from this episode:

  • How happiness benefits our lives in multiple ways, including our relationships, life expectancy, and work—and how awe is one of the easiest ways we can boost our happiness.

  • How Dacher Keltner defines awe as our experience with vast mysteries, and how to find awe in music, nature, art, or any experience that transcends our reality.

  • That awe is one of the easiest pathways to better health. It is associated with decreased inflammation, lower stress, reduced activation of the amygdala, reduced pain in older adults, and lower levels of PTSD in veterans.

  • The analgesic effect of listening to your favorite music and how the goosebumps is a physiological response that all social mammals have when we merge with others in response to peril.

  • What Groundhog’s Day Syndrome is, and how we can break free from the monotony of our everyday lives by seeking novelty and injecting our lives with awe.

  • And much more!
